Every pen or gift in our online store is handmade in our workshop in San Jose, California. We collect raw materials from local sources whenever possible — trees being pruned or felled, salvaged and reclaimed wood from furniture makers, wineries, and other local businesses — and we use those materials to produce fine writing instruments.  I am particular about my pens, and so we have a simple standard for every item we sell:  We only ship products that are beautiful in appearance and a joy to use.

Life is too short to write with a crummy pen!

When we have a break from orders, I love tinkering in the wood shop, combining different woods into interesting patterns and inventing new designs. If you have materials or colors you would like to see in a pen or pencil, drop me a line. I am happy to take custom orders. You can even send us a sample of unique or meaningful wood, and I will fashion it into writing instruments for you. Create a keepsake that will last a lifetime!

A note about the business:  10% of our net profit is donated to charity every year.  We spread donations around among causes we support, but if you feel strongly about where the donations end up, drop us a line and let us know.  We’ll be happy to consider donating to your preferred charities.  We like knowing that our hard work helps others, and we want you to know that the dollars you spend here also support good causes.
